• Description:

The Amsterdam Leukodystrophy Center is offering a PhD position focused on understanding astrocyte dysfunction in the leukodystrophy MLC. This collaborative research project aims to develop therapeutic interventions targeting MLC-related proteins to restore astrocyte function.

The project focuses on elucidating the mechanisms behind the dysfunction of astrocytes in MLC, a leukodystrophy characterized by disrupted ion and water homeostasis leading to severe neurological deficits. The selected candidate will work on characterizing new animal models and studying therapeutic interventions aimed at restoring normal function in astrocytes.

    Qualifications

    1. Master’s degree in Neurosciences or Biomedical Sciences.
    2. Proven interest in (cellular) neuroscience, especially related to neurological diseases or astrocyte physiology.
