Description: The Peruvian Life Cycle Assessment Network (PELCAN) at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) is offering two PhD positions within the European project FOODTURE, aimed at enhancing sustainable practices in the food sector through innovative Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies.
The research will focus on developing new Life Cycle Impact Assessment methods, particularly related to ocean-based environmental impacts and relevant agricultural systems for global food supply and security.
The successful candidates will contribute to the FOODTURE project which endeavors to promote sustainable and innovative practices within the food sector. The focus will be on the development and validation of LCA methodologies and stakeholder engagement to improve sustainability in food systems, emphasizing transparency and open access.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Industrial Ecology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Engineering, or Process Engineering is required.
- Proficiency in Life Cycle Assessment and knowledge of industrial ecology is mandatory.
- Familiarity with ecosystem services, agri-food systems, biodiversity, and ocean science is a plus.
- Experience in LCA methodologies and cleaner production tools is an asset.
- Ability to work in an international research environment; experience in sustainability is advantageous.
- Creative, collaborative, and organizational skills are required.
- Proficient in Spanish (mandatory) and English (advanced preferable).
