Description: The University of Iceland invites applications for a fully funded PhD student position in Electrical and Computer Engineering, specializing in medical image analysis. This project aims to develop automated image processing strategies for assessing hip-fracture risk, in collaboration with international research teams. The focus of the research project is on developing fully automated image processing methods for hip-fracture risk assessment, specifically utilizing image-based biomarkers from finite element (FE) analysis of the proximal femur.
The position is fully funded by The Icelandic Research Fund (RANNIS) for three years. The successful candidate will work on developing novel image processing techniques to automate femur segmentation from CT images, overcoming challenges posed by varied CT scanner outputs. The goal is to establish proof-of-concept for future applications in FE analysis related to clinical scenarios, supported by extensive international collaboration.
